Welcome to Act II: The Next 50 Years of Grandstreet Theatre

For more than 50 years, Grandstreet Theatre has been a place where stories come to life, young artists discover their voices, and our community gathers to laugh, reflect, and celebrate together. Every production, class, and event is made possible by people who believe that live theatre belongs in the heart of Helena—not just today, but for generations to come.

This November, Grandstreet begins an exciting new chapter as construction starts on the first phase of renovations to our historic home. These long-awaited improvements will create a more welcoming, accessible, and functional space for our audiences, artists, students, volunteers, and staff. Thanks to the generous partnership of Slate Architecture and Morrison-Maierle, renovation work will include new lighting trusses, a reimagined box office lobby, and Phase II of our HVAC improvements—all critical investments that will preserve Grandstreet’s legacy while preparing us for the future.

While our building undergoes renovation, the show will go on. We are thrilled to continue our holiday tradition with How the Grinch Stole Christmas, presented this December at the Helena Civic Center Auditorium. Even as our historic theatre transforms, our commitment to bringing exceptional live theatre to our community remains stronger than ever.

We are deeply grateful to the Treacy  Foundation and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana Blue Impact Grant for helping move this important work forward. Their investment demonstrates a shared belief that the arts strengthen communities and deserve to flourish for decades to come.

But there is still work to do!

Every gift, no matter the size, moves this project forward and helps ensure Grandstreet continues to inspire, educate, and entertain.
