Volunteer
Grandstreet Theatre is a community powered theatre with volunteer opportunities available throughout the artistic process. We know everyone who joins the Grandstreet community brings a unique perspective and experience to the theatre, and we welcome your interest no matter your skill level or experience. Browse our volunteer opportunities below, or reach out to us with your interests and we’ll work to find the right volunteer opportunity for you!
Frozen Jr. Volunteer Opportunties
Volunteering with Frozen Jr. is a wonderful way to support our Theatre School students while being part of the magic that happens both onstage and off. We’re looking for two adult volunteers to join our ushering team at each performance. Our students serve as the primary ushers, but once they head backstage to prepare for the show, we rely on adult volunteers to greet and guide audience members, distribute will-call tickets, and help tidy the theatre after curtain call. Ushers report to the Audience Services Coordinator, arrive one hour before showtime, and remain about 30 minutes afterward. When space allows, Front of House volunteers are welcome to enjoy the performance for free. Click the button to claim your usher slot.
If you’re feeling creative, crafty, or simply want to be part of something joyful, join Binky and the Theatre School team in the upper studio as we prepare delightful items for students to sell during intermission. No registration or prior experience is needed—just drop in anytime during the week of November 17th between 6:30 and 9:30 pm. It’s a fun, relaxed way to lend a hand, meet fellow Grandstreet friends, and help support our young performers in a very tangible (and sparkly!) way.
A Christmas Carol Volunteer Opportunities
There are three wonderful ways to join the spirit of giving this season and support Grandstreet Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol!
1. Ushering at Performances
We’re seeking four volunteers per performance to join our Front of House team. Working alongside cast members who usher until they head backstage, volunteers help greet and direct audience members, distribute will-call tickets, and tidy the theatre following curtain call. Ushers report to the Audience Services Coordinator, arriving one hour before the show and staying about 30 minutes afterward. When seating allows, our Front of House volunteers are invited to sit and enjoy the performance for free—a warm reward for sharing your time and hospitality. TO SIGN UP CLICK THE YELLOW BUTTON BELOW.
2. Help Transform the Civic Center Ballroom
On Tuesday, December 9th, we’ll be moving scenery, props, and costumes to the Civic Center Ballroom and decking the space in festive décor. Volunteers are invited to join us for this essential—and fun—behind-the-scenes effort. From carrying items to adding holiday sparkle, your help will ensure the ballroom is ready to welcome audiences into the magic of A Christmas Carol.

3. Assist With Strike After the Final Bows
When the final “God bless us, everyone!” has been spoken, we’ll need a few volunteers to help with strike: the process of taking the show down and transporting everything back to the theatre. Cast and crew will be hard at work, but a few extra hands make the job smoother, faster, and far more cheerful. If you enjoy teamwork and don’t mind a little lifting or organizing, this is a wonderfully helpful way to close the production.
