Building Character On and Off Stage
Grandstreet’s Theatre School expands student skills in character development, improvisation, and playmaking while providing practical experience in rehearsal techniques. Class work is aimed at building character – both on and off the stage. We aim to provide arts education that inspires creative thinking, self-confidence, effective communication skills, fluid movement and vocal control. Each student receives training in acting, voice and diction, singing, movement, dance improvisation, musical theatre and directing.
Summer Camps
Each summer, Grandstreet Theatre School offers students in Kindergarten through high school a two-week intensive summer camp and a series of mini-camps throughout the summer months. Students learn and expand their theatrical skills through workshops with professional artists, play games, make friends, and conclude with a final showcase performance on the final Friday of camp. No previous theatrical experience is necessary, just a desire to play and to try!
After-School Classes
Grandstreet offers after-school classes for students in Kindergarten through high school. During the school year, students attend grade-specific classes weekly and learn a range of theatre skills from improv to playwriting and everything in between. There are three sessions throughout the school year, one in the fall and two in the spring. Most classes are available by session, however some require a full year commitment.
Theatre for Social Skills
This unique two-week camp is designed to promote social skills (pragmatics) through the fun and powerful medium of theatre. Designed to support students with disabilites and students on the autism spectrum, the workshop is co-taught be a speech therapist and a theatre artist. Participants are provided an opportunity to learn and practice age-appropriate social skills and work on the fundamentals of acting, and the class concludes with a short showcase performance.
Adult Classes
From acting workshops tailored to seasoned performers seeking to hone their craft, to introductory courses inviting newcomers to discover the magic of the stage, Grandstreet Theatre’s adult classes provide a platform for individuals to cultivate their passion for theater in a supportive and inclusive environment.
