Take Class with the Brilliant Choreographer of Newsies

Whether you’re brand new to tap or looking to brush up your skills, this fun and supportive class is for you! We’ll explore technique, rhythm, musicality, tap vocabulary and rudiments in a relaxed environment that welcomes all experience levels!

Tap shoes are not required, but if you have them of course wear them!
This project is funded in part by the Montana Arts Council, an agency of the State Government, and by the National
Endowment for the Arts.

Michael was born, raised and trained in Los Angeles prior to relocating to the Midwest with his wife at the beginning of 2025. An avid baseball and soccer player until high school, he traded his cleats for tap shoes his freshman year and never looked back. Landing roles in touring productions, regional theatre, television and film, some of his favorite projects include American Housewife (opposite Julia Butters), The Little Mermaid (featuring Todrick Hall) and the Los Angeles regional premiere of Newsies (Ovation Award Nomination). While continuing to teach tap, he “retired” from acting to pursue a career in casting and talent booking (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Bob’s Burgers, Lythgoe Family Panto, The Emmys). Amidst multiple career changes, tap dance remained the constant and once he decided to pursue that full-time, his teaching career started to take off. Tap dance has lead him to travel the country and world educating dancers and teachers through workshops, intensives and masterclasses. He’s been fortunate to teach in London (Pineapple Dance Studios), NYC (Broadway Dance Center), Australia, Chicago, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Kentucky, Indiana, Montana, Iowa and more. His hybrid tap style (musical theatre and rhythm) and background in acting and casting has allowed Michael to approach his teaching more holistically; bringing in elements of storytelling, audition technique, musicality and performance into his classes.
