Master Carpenter

Grandstreet Theatre, a cornerstone of Helena’s vibrant arts community, is seeking a skilled and collaborative Master Carpenter to join our production team. This vital role is responsible for the safe and efficient construction, installation, and maintenance of all scenic elements for Grandstreet’s ambitious season of theatrical productions. The Master Carpenter works closely with the Technical Director, designers, and production staff to bring imaginative sets to life on stage, contributing to the high artistic standards and community spirit that define Grandstreet’s legacy.

Pay range: $18-$20 DOE

The Theatre: Grandstreet is Montana’s premiere community theatre with over 45 years of continuous service. Sustained by volunteers from an exceptionally talented population, Grandstreet also trains over 400 K-12 students each year in our nationally recognized Grandstreet Theatre School. We produce 8-10 plays and musicals each year in a beautifully preserved 200-seat turn-of-the-century Romanesque granite church. Nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains in a small but thriving arts community, Grandstreet enjoys tremendous public support and regularly produces some of the best live theatre in the Northwest.

The Position: Grandstreet Theatre seeks a part-time Master Carpenter to support the mission and work of this 47-year-old theatrical company and theatre school. The successful candidate will be autonomous and work in a highly collaborative team that seeks to provide students and volunteers with experience opportunities while also providing outstanding scenery construction to a first-class community theatre.

Role and Responsibilities: The Master Carpenter, working with the Technical Director, is responsible for the construction, installation, and rigging of the scenery for Grandstreet’s productions. They assist in supervising a crew of carpenters and volunteers. They also help with the maintenance of the scene shop equipment and supplies.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience. Good with kids and a moderate sense of humor.

Physical Demands: Moving, carrying, and lifting overhead up to 50 pounds. Climbing and working off of ladders, and with heights.

Preferred experience (we would not expect that you would have all of these): 

Construction, drafting, prop building, scenic painting, special effects experience; rigging skills; basic welding skills; experience with K-12 students.

Finance Manager

 

Grandstreet Theatre, a cornerstone of the performing arts in Helena, Montana, is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Director of Finance to join our leadership team.

As a key member of our organization, the Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our operations, from budgeting and financial planning to reporting and compliance. This role is essential in helping us continue our mission of enriching our community through exceptional theatre education and performance.

Job Title: Finance Manager

Job Type: Full Time – Exempt

Location: Helena, Montana

Field: Administration

Salary: The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $62,000 per year and will be determined based on qualifications; the upper end of this salary range is reserved for candidates who exceed minimum qualifications and bring directly related education and experience to the role on day one.

Role and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Finance Manager oversees all financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. This role is responsible for bookkeeping, payroll, accounting, budgeting, and financial forecasting while maintaining strong internal controls. The Finance Manager prepares timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards and provides leadership with financial insights to support decision-making. Additionally, in collaboration with the Managing Director this position helps develop and monitor the annual budget, monitor cash flow, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Essential Functions

Financial Management & Accounting
-Maintain and oversee all financial records and transactions.
-Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts receivable and payable.
-Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and financial records.
-Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP for nonprofit organizations.
-Manage payroll processing, including tax deposits and reporting.
-Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Budgeting & Forecasting
-Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Managing Director.
-Monitor actual financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
-Prepare financial projections and cash flow forecasts to support strategic planning.
-Advise leadership on financial risks and opportunities.

Internal Controls & Compliance
-Establish and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
-Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and nonprofit financial reporting standards.
-Assist with audits and tax filings, including Form 990 preparation.
-Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation.

Strategic Financial Planning & Reporting
-Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational decision-making.
-Prepare monthly financial reports and presentations for the Managing Director and Finance Committee.
-Conduct financial analyses to support operational and strategic initiatives.

Other Duties as Assigned
-Participate in team meetings and strategic planning initiatives.
-Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial operations.
-Support fundraising, events, and grant management efforts as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-Comprehensive understanding of nonprofit financial operations, including grant management and fund accounting.
-Strong proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks), Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, Dropbox, video conferencing (e.g., Zoom, etc), and standard office equipment.
-Demonstrated ability to learn and work in other software programs (e.g., ArtsPeople, Dance Studio Pro ).
-Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow analyses.
-Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
-Ability to interpret and apply accounting principles and financial regulations.
-High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
-Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team environment
-Demonstrated a strong work ethic, stamina and passion.

Designer and Production Roles

Grandstreet Theatre is always seeking talented designers and technicians to work on our mainstage production season. We offer a wide range of productions including plays and musicals for community members of all ages. Bartenders

We accept applications for Bartenders on a rolling basis. Bartenders manage the concession stand and bar for Grandstreet Theatre performances, providing smooth and speedy service to patrons. This is a shift-based position scheduled based on availability. Applicants should be available for at least two shifts per production for the current season.
