To the Grandstreet Community,
I hope you all are safe, healthy, and staying in touch with your loved ones. Whether they are in the room with you or connected via FaceTime or Zoom, connection and community are so important in these crazy and uncertain times. Although it’s difficult to know what the future holds, the Grandstreet team wants you to know that “the show WILL go on … eventually.”
Like many of you, I’ve been working from home as much as I can this week. And also like many of you, I’ve had some ups and downs. Yes, I wish I could be in the rehearsal room with my Matilda cast. Yes, I wish I could walk through a room full of theatre school students taking a class. And yes, I miss my co-workers and all the energy and fun they bring into the building every single day. But somehow, these moments have made me realize how lucky I am to be part of such an amazing community. I suppose absence really does make the heart grow fonder, and I have grown fonder and fonder of the Grandstreet family all week. We really do have something special. And even though we are apart, we will get through this together.
Our annual Gala was originally scheduled for tonight. Although our event is currently rescheduled for May 23rd, we still want to use today as an opportunity to celebrate all that we have and all that we are. So in the spirit of celebrating this magical place, and all the amazing people who make Grandstreet possible, we are sharing a special treat! This incredible video was created by Kim (Cosgrove) Hogberg and her team at North by Northwest Productions and it really says it all 🙂 I hope you enjoy it.
Grandstreet is here if you need us. We encourage you to continue to use our facebook page as a way to stay connected with one another. Share a favorite Grandstreet memory, tell us about your favorite show, and let us know if you need anything (you are welcome to email the GST staff at any time).
Please take care of yourselves and each other. We can’t wait to see you again!
