Phil Bartruff earned his BFA from the University of Nebraska, Kearney and uses his degree training, as a training consultant for InterContinental Hotels Group. Phil enjoys every opportunity to take to the Grandstreet stage. It literally feels like a home away from home. Phil was last seen on the Grandstreet stage as Hertz Klinemann in Rock of Ages. Mary-Elizabeth Boespflug is thrilled to be returning to Grandstreet for yet another summer! Mary is earning her Bachelors in Theater at the University of Montana. Connor Dudley was in Grandstreet Theatre’s production of Rock of Ages and is thrilled to be back in Helena this summer for Tarzan! Connor is a native from Lincoln, Nebraska and has one more semester at the University of Nebraska at Kearney before graduating with a 7-12 Social Science and Theatre degree in Education. Connor’s recent theatre credits include Matamore in The Illusion, Pedro in Man of La Mancha, Polymestor in Hecuba, and Tartuffe in Tartuffe.
Gabe Fischer is an 11 year-old boy going into 6th grade at CR Anderson. He has sat in the audience many times watching his older 3 sisters on stage. However, this will be his debut performance. He is excited to be a part of such an all time favorite production. Gabe also enjoys playing football, basketball, baseball and trail running. Along with sports, he has spent several years with the St. Cathedral Choir and the Sleeping Giant Boys Choir. He would like to thank his family, especially his parents for their love and support.
Lysa Fox returns to her Helena summer home for year #10! She was recently seen during the regular season in Always, Patsy Cline in January. Lysa is the head of the BFA in Musical Theatre at Western Illinois University. This year she co-wrote a children’s book with her sister called Lysa and the Good Drama Fairy. Thanks to Lana for her constant love and thanks always to everyone at GST and those whom she considers family – Marianne, Jeff and the Cordingleys.

J.T. Franklin is a junior at Helena High School and Tarzan is his Grandstreet debut. His most recent performance was The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe at HHS. J.T. has performed in many choir concerts and talent showcases. He is a member of the Helena High Varsity cheer team and can often be heard singing the national anthem between games. J.T. thanks his parents for supporting him in his many activities and being willing to taxi him around during his crazy schedule.
Andrew Fuehrer has grown up with Grandstreet and is thrilled to be a part of Tarzen. He first appeared on the Grandstreet stage as a homeless man in Annie. His recent roles include Ed in Lion King, Jr. and an ensemble role in last summer’s James and the Giant Peach. Andy will be attending Helena High School as a sophomore this fall. Nathan George is excited to spend his last summer before college preforming at Grandstreet. He has been in a number of shows in the past including: It’s a Wonderful Life and Rock of Ages last summer. He would like to thank his parents for helping him through high school, and the staff of Grandstreet for always giving him a place to perform.
Kev Hamm has been seen in the Grandstreet productions of Avenue Q, Next Fall, Les Misérables, The Addams’ Family Musical, A Christmas Carol, and now Tarzan. He produces videos at Studio19 and his other company, Treasure State Internet & Telegraph, tries to change the world. He’s a founding member of Cow Tipping Comedy, and performs regularly from September to May. He’s proud to have taught at the Summer Camp, and hopes you enjoy this marvelous show!

Ella House will be a Sophomore at Capital High School. Ella enjoys time with her family on long road trips and in the mountains. She dreams of becoming a professional graphic artist. Some of her favorite roles include, The Jester in Once Upon a Mattress, A Lioness in The Lion King Jr, Julie Hope in Billy Elliott and The Bakers daughter in Beauty and the Beast. She is thrilled to be in her first conservatory production.

Alyssa Logan is excited to begin 9th grade at Skyview High School (Billings). She will play the cello in the Orchestra and sing in Choir. She is also an athlete, participating in swimming, volleyball and track. Alyssa is spending her 4th summer at Grandstreet and will attend her 3rd Performing Arts Camp with MCT in August. Some of Alyssa’s favorite roles include Jane in Mary Poppins, Beaky in Honk, Jr., and Bird Girl in Seussical.

Claire Peterson is delighted to be back on the Grandstreet stage. You may have seen her as Mary in It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play and a protester in Rock of Ages. Claire is a 2017 graduate of Capital High School where she was president of the Thespian troupe and performed in many school productions. She will be attending the University of Montana in the fall.

Sophie Pomajevich has been in many shows and musicals including Bugsy Malone Jr.(Dandy Dan) The Lion King Jr. (Djembe #7 and understudy for Banzai), Once On This Island Jr. and the light board operator for A Christmas Carol. Sophie has been in Grandstreet Theatre School since 3rd grade. In her spare time, she like being involved in theatre, on an Irish team dance, and hanging out with friends (you know who you are.)

Hayden Schubert will be entering his Senior year of the BFA in Musical Theater at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He has also worked professionally at McLeod Summer Playhouse where he played Brad in Hairspray, Napthali In Joseph…Dreamcoat, and Simon/Lafe in Big River.
Savannah Smith is ecstatic to be spending her 6th consecutive summer at Grandstreet. Savannah is currently an Acting major at the Webster Conservatory of Theatre Arts in St. Louis, Missouri. Some of her favorite roles include Miss Spider in James and the Giant Peach and Ensemble in Ragtime. Emma Templeton will be a sophomore at Helena High School in the fall. She has worked in shows and taken classes at Grandstreet for seven years and has enjoyed every moment. Danielle Wineman (Mother /ape ensemble) could not be more excited to be back home. Although she loves living in San Diego as she earns her Masters of Fine Arts degree in Acting from UC San Diego, she is happiest being in Montana with her Grandstreet family. Caroline Carey (Pepper Walker) is pumped to be a part of Cry Baby. She has grown up on the Grandstreet stage and has most recently performed in The Wizard of Oz and Mary Poppins. Caroline will be a senior in the fall and is planning on auditioning for many of the next season shows. She would like to thank her family for their never-ending support.
Eliza Carey (Square ensemble) This is Eliza’s first year to participate in Grandstreet’s Summer Conservatory, although she has been on the Grandstreet stage for several years. Her most noted performances were as Little Cosette in Les Miserables, Flounder in The Little Mermaid Jr., and Thing 2 in Cat in the Hat.

Jessie Maye Christopher (Lenora Frigid) hails from the lovely land of Raleigh, NC. Some of her favorite credits include Candace (Bully), Iola Stover (Parade), and Kathy (Singing in the Rain). Noah Jermain (Wade “Cry Baby” Walker) from Savannah, Missouri is currently pursuing his BFA in Musical Theatre at Missouri State University. While at MSU, he has played Fredrik in A Little Night Music, Emmett in Legally Blonde, and Claude in Hair. He has also performed with Tent Theatre as Dean in All Shook Up. Faith Johnson (Allison Vernon-Williams) has been in Grandstreet Theatre for 13 years. She has been in many shows over the years, her most memorable being My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, Billy Elliot, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Helena. She is honored to be playing Allison Vernon-Williams and can’t wait to see where this summer takes her. “Thank you to my mom and dad who always push me to be my best and keep me in high spirits. Rick Johnson (ensemble) has been hanging around GST for the past 20 years were he has been involved in more than 50 productions. His on stage roles include his first role in 1997 as Norman in The Boys Next Door to his most recent role as a member of the wonderful ensemble in Billy Elliot. Rick has also spent the last 17 summers working as Marianne Adams assistant for GST’s Summer Program. Dawn Lee Kangas graduated from GSTS and is blessed to work as a teacher and director where she gained her passion for theatre. Dawn has a BFA in Acting from Cornish College of the Arts, Professional Acting Conservatory and a MIT from Seattle University. She has taught at GSTS for the past 13 years. She recently directed GTK Once upon a Mattress and was Sponge in James and the Giant Peach.

Jodi Mattson (Mrs. Cordelia Vernon-Williams) holds a Masters in Education and has taught music in the public schools, Carroll College and is currently a private voice teacher. She has been performing, musically directing, painting, sewing, and supporting Grandstreet productions since 1977. Her first role was Fiona in Brigadoon since then the list is long of roles and musical direction. Most recently, Aggie Hurley in A Catered Affair , Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray, and Mrs.Watson in Big River. Jodi is honored to have been a member of the Grandstreet gang for so many years/decades (yikes!!) This is a magical place; creative, and safe…wonderful!
Jillian Newton (adult ensemble) is thrilled to music direct the talented cast of Tarzan! Originally from Michigan, she earned Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Western Michigan University. She has previously worked with Grandstreet Theatre as the Music Director for It’s a Wonderful Life and as a Maid/Ensemble member in My Fair Lady. Jim Shea (Judge Stone) Jim’s acting chops and easy access to judicial attire landed him his first Grandstreet role as Justice Brandeis in Annie. Since then, Jim has appeared in a number of shows, including Urinetown, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Foreigner, Oliver!, and The 39 Steps. In between acting gigs, Jim pays the bills with his day job as a Montana Supreme Court Justice. Jim would like to thank Kathy, Kate, and Mo for . . . well . . . everything.
Dalton Weaver (whiffle #2) sixteen years old, is a Helena High Sophomore where he sings in the Starlighters Choir. He is a frequent performer at Grandstreet Theatre. His most recent performances include James and Giant Peach, It’s A Wonderful Life and The Giver. Emma is currently a straight-A, eighth-grade student at Helena Middle School. She has been dancing and singing her way through life for as long as she’s been alive! Her most recent roles include Jane in Mary Poppins, Iris in Still Life with Iris, and Little Red in Into the Woods. Emma has been studying dance, piano and voice since she was three. She is grateful to the incredible directors who have inspired her and given her incredible guidance: Marianne Adams, Jeff Downing and Retta Leaphart.
Lyla is a 10-year old, straight-A 4th grader at St. Andrew School in Helena, MT. Lyla has a contagious zest for life with a profound love of people! She adores being on stage and has NEVER been cast as a girl! Her most recent roles include Chip in Beauty and the Beast, Michael in Mary Poppins, and James in James and the Giant Peach. Briar Bell is a rising 9th grader at St. Andrew School. James and the Giant Peach is her 6th show at Grandstreet. Her last couple of shows were Billy Elliot as a Ballet Girl, and Alice in Wonderland Jr. as a main card. She would like to thank Lauren Hanson for helping and having fun with her during rehearsals, her family, and Miriam Dixon for being supportive and always putting a smile on her face.

Aase Hahn relishes the opportunity to return to the Grandstreet stage after appearing last winter as a Solicitor in A Christmas Carol. She also appeared as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, an Ensemble member in Mary Poppins, an Enchanted Napkin in Beauty and the Beast, the Little Girl in Ragtime, a fairy in Peter Pan, and a Workhouse Brat in Oliver! When not performing at Grandstreet, you can find Aase on the soccer field, skiing on the ski hill, or adventuring in the mountains with her family.

Rachel is 15 years old and currently attends Helena High School. She has been involved in Grandstreet for around 2 years now and participates in many school productions. Rachel is very involved in her school a capella group and is a board member in the HHS Thespian Troupe. Some of her most recent roles have included Emily Webb in HHS’s production of Our Town and Rose in Grandstreet Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland Jr.
Ben Misplon is a Sophomore at Western Illinois University, where he studies Musical Theatre. Ben grew up in Helena and spent most of his time at Grandstreet. His most recent roles have included, Trinculo The Tempest, Ensemble Pippin, and The Scarecrow The Wizard of Oz. Ben would like to thank all of his friends and family for all there love and support.
Gabriel is beyond grateful to be spending another magical summer with the Grandstreet Theatre. A Kansas native, Gabriel trained with Webster Conservatory and the British American Drama Academy and currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Regionally Gabriel has worked with the Kentucky Repertory Theatre, Great River Shakespeare Festival, The Jungle Theatre, Park Square Theatre, Workhaus Collective, Theatre Pro Rata, Frank Theatre, and Walking Shadow Theatre Company. Brenna Noble, an Oklahoma native, is excited to be making her Grandstreet debut this summer. She most recently performed along side Beth Leavel in the “Muny at the Sheldon” concert series. She is a senior Musical Theatre major at the Webster University Conservatory of Theatre Arts, where she recently performed in The Pajama Game and HONK. Favorite credits include: The Sound of Music (Liesl), Hairspray (Amber), and Little Women (Amy). Love to Mom, Dad, and Ethan.
Tad is a Senior at Carroll College studying business marketing and theatre. you probably saw him ion the Grandstreet stage either in Midsummer Nights dream where he played Lysander, or in Billy Elliot. He would like to thank his family for always believing him and letting him follow his dream.
Savannah is ecstatic to be a part of Grandstreet Theatre’s 2016 summer season! Her most recent backstage credits include assisting in Dear Edwina Jr. and running the light board for Pippin. Recent onstage credits include Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Virginia in Oklahoma! Savannah would like thank her friends and family for their support, and Roald Dahl for writing wondrous and whimsical worlds into existence for everyone to explore.
McLain would like to thank Sarah Butts for this opportunity and her parents for supporting her to become the talented young actress she is today. McLain is going to be a freshman at Capital High School. Her latest role at Grandstreet Theatre was the Ghost of Christmas Past in the Christmas Carol. She looks forward to future opportunities at Grandstreet.
Colleen "Binky" Watson
Colleen is a graduate of UM Missoula where she received her BFA in Acting/Directing. She has been a teacher in Grandstreet’s afterschool program for more that 20 years. Most recently Binky directed ESCAPE FROM EDEN at the Last Chance New Play Festival in Helena. Most recent Grandstreet Shows include THE ADDAMS FAMILY (Alice), and CABARET (Frauline Schneider). Favorite roles include Velma Kelly (CHICAGO), and The Witch (INTO THE WOODS). Favorite Shows include COWBOY and HARVEST, both tours with Montana Repertory Theatre. Thanks Kevin(husband, hers)!
Dalton Weaver (ensemble) is 15 years old, loves musical theatre and is very grateful to find himself back on the Grandstreet Theatre stage. Shipwrecked was his Grandstreet debut and he was enthralled with the talent presented. Dalton was fortunate enough to gain experience in eight theater productions when he lived in Whitefish, MT. He wishes to thank all of the directors and staff for their encouragement and knowledge.
