Audition Dates

Monday, January 4, 2016 and Tuesday, January 5, 2016

6:30 – 9:30

Please arrive at 6:30.  You may not need to stay until 9:30.  You only need to attend one night of auditions.

Rehearsal Dates

January 11, 2016 – February 25, 2016

Rehearsals are flexible and are generally held Sunday through Thursday evenings.

Performance Dates

February 26, 2016 – March 13, 2016

Wednesday through Friday evenings at 7:30 PM

Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:30 PM

Grandstreet Theatre Studio is located at 328 Fuller Avenue (downtown across from Valley Bank)

What to Prepare

No preparation is required for this audition.  This adaptation of “The Cat in the Hat” uses a lot of visual storytelling, so we are looking for actors who can physically express themselves with their bodies.  Please come dressed to move and play!

Seeking the Following Roles

Casting for “The Cat in the Hat” is very open and flexible.  We might cast kids playing kids, adults playing cats, teenagers playing kids, kids playing fish, adults playing kids, or any combination in between!  Actors of all ages are encouraged to audition but you must be at least 8 years old in order to audition.

The Cat – The epitome of mischief, a showoff who is constantly in wild pursuit of fun.  Mischievous and daring.

Boy – Sally’s brother.  Curious and excitable, but responsible and cautious.

Sally – The Boy’s sister.  She is wide eyed and very curious.

Fish – The family fish and parental figure of the story.  Anxious, uptight, and stressed out!

Thing 1 – Part of the kite-flying duo that wreaks havoc on Boy and Sally’s house.  Wild and out of control.

Thing 2 – Part of the kite-flying duo that wreaks havoc on Boy and Sally’s house.  Wild and out of control.

Kitten 1 – One of the Cat’s playful assistants.  Can double as Thing 1.

Kitten 2 – One of the Cat’s playful assistants.  Can double as Thing 2.

About The Show
